Christmas in Battle is a magical time. With so many events in the town alongside some fantastic shops make sure you take a trip to Battle this festive season.

SANTA PARADE & LIGHT SWTICH ON
Saturday 25th November
Santa’s Amazing Parade starts the event, heading down the High Street at 1.50pm with Santa’s Sleigh, Second Line Youth Band and Santa’s reindeer and friends.
The parade is followed by Santa’s Grotto in the Memorial Hall (tickets on the door only), and Santa will turn on the lights at 5pm from his sleigh on the Abbey Green.
Outside in the afternoon we have Christmas Carol singing, traditional fairground rides, photo opportunities in the sleigh and our beautiful festive stilt walker.

This year the Taste of Sussex event at Battle Abbey is going to coincide with one of the busiest days in the town’s Christmas celebrations – the switching on of the Christmas Lights and Santa on his train on Saturday 25th November.
This means that there will be alot of people in town, and also people looking to fill the gap between the various activities, and with our amazing hot chocolates, and students with flyers around town, there is likely to be many more people than previous busy evenings If anyone would be interested in having a stall, please contact

Theme for Battle’s Shop Windows this year is ‘Christmas Through the Ages’ – our unique shops always have fabulous window displays, come and see for yourselves and vote for your favourite. See Battle Abbey and the 1066 story in a whole new light as it’s brought to life with dramatic illuminations this December. Have your cameras at the ready as you explore the atmospheric splendour of the abbey grounds and ruins lit up with all the colours of the rainbow. Discover the story of what happened after the Battle of Hastings as you encounter characters from the past.
Follow the wintery trail and take in stunning installations, atmospheric scenes and immersive soundscapes – there is intrigue at every turn. Gaze up at the stunning vistas of light against ancient architecture as we transport you back across the ages to winter 1066! A unique and magical experience awaits!
We’ll also be serving up a wide range of culinary delights. Warm up with a hot chocolate or, for the grown ups, grab a glass of hot mead or mulled cider. Afterwards, treat yourself to something to eat in our café. For those with a sweet tooth, we have open fire toasting of marshmallows, seasonal treats and traditional Saxon and Norman cakes on offer as well. The shop will also be open for those of you who want to do some Christmas shopping.

People can choose either menu, and switch courses between the two.
