Keane Trail

Thanks to international music super-group Keane, the East Sussex towns of Battle, Bexhill and Hastings will forever be remembered collectively as “Strangeland”. Through Strangeland, the band’s fifth consecutive number one album, Keane revisit the places and spaces of a youth spent growing up in Battle and share the geographic and emotional journeys that helped shape their lives.

This tour is a must for Keane’s fans from near and far and a very warm welcome awaits you here in Strangeland.

Battle Walk

This 4.5 mile circular walk takes you round all the fantastic hotspots of Battle. On the trail you’ll stumble across Battle Great Wood, Battle Abbey, the 1066 Battlefield as well as Battle Museum! Despite not being too challenging, this walk can be very muddy so boots are highly recommended!

1066 Country Walk

This 31 mile is not for the faint-hearted, but rather those looking to follow the footsteps on William the Conquerer. Starting at Norman’s landing point in Pevensey, travelling through the 1066 Battlefield, and carrying on right through to the ancient towns of Winchelsea and Rye, the 1066 Country Walk is a fantastic way to take in the castles, oast houses and windmills scattered along the trail.

Let Game of Thrones and RSC actor Anton Lesser personally guide you on an audio tour around the important heritage sites of Battle.

Crowhurst Walk

Beginning at Crowhurst railway station, the Crowhurst Walk is a 3.4 mile, circular trail through a nature reserve and woodland. It’s a beautiful way to take in the landscape, and at some point along the trail, you’ll bump into a yew tree estimated to be more than 1,000 years old!

Fuller’s Follies

John Fuller (also known as Mad Jack) built a number of highly bizarre structures known as Fuller’s Follies in the 1800s. Along this trail, you’ll get to witness them in the spectacular view, along with the beautiful countryside around Burwash and Brightling. You won’t be short of incredible views along this path.

Waller’s Haven Circular Walk

A 9.2km loop located close to Battle, Waller’s Haven Circular Walk is a beautiful trail offering a number of activities for you to enjoy along the way. This walk is rated as moderately difficult, but the number of gorgeous wildflowers you’ll stumble across makes it worth it!

Battle Children’s Trail

Created by the children of Battle, on this trail you’ll learn plenty of fascinating facts about their town. See if you can find four beautiful stone sculptures on your way around.

Mainly level terrain, hard surface, suitable for all ages and abilities.

the oldest guy in the world; how the children of Battle saved their school from World War II bombs; Battle’s red telephone box and where its inventor came from; where the jam factory used to be … and much, much more!
